The past year stay and the subsequent changes to our lifestyles, has triggered a boom in home improvements, with over 80% of homeowners planning to make changes to their homes in the next 12 months. Paint sales went through the roof in the lockdowns as we took to freshening up our home décor, and now tradespeople are like gold dust should we want to install a new bathroom or kitchen. Many of those now working from home indefinitely are finding themselves cramped with their laptop in their bedroom, or huddled around the dining room table with little separation between work mode and living space, so it is not surprising there has been an increased appetite from people to extend their property.

Never before have our gardens and outside spaces meant so much to us. Previously abandoned pieces of waste land suddenly became the centrepieces to our social lives during lockdown and Covid restrictions, where we met with friends and family. Budding gardeners are popping up all round the country, planting tomatoes, pruning bushes, growing trees, making our gardens an extension of our homes.

Macnabs are delighted to once again be taking part in this year’s annual Will Aid fundraising event throughout November. It is simple – you make an appointment, we make your Will and instead of paying a fee you make a donation to the Will Aid charity.  Macnabs has taken part in the annual Will Aid scheme for over 10 years, raising over £60,000 for the Will Aid charities which include ActionAid, Age UK, British Red Cross, Christian Aid, NSPCC, Save the Children, Sightsavers, SCIAF (Scotland) and Trocaire (N. Ireland). Without a Will you have no control over what will happen to your money, possessions and property after you die, often leading to stressful, and also costly, family disputes. Life is precious - do what you can to protect those you love.

Macnabs has recently recruited a new trainee to take the total current trainee intake to four. Megan Carling joined the Family team at Macnabs after graduating from Aberdeen University with a law degree and completing her diploma at Strathclyde University. She joins trainees Aimee Young who worked for the firm as a Legal Secretary prior to undertaking her traineeship, as well as Lauren McIntosh and Vikki Carver who both assigned their traineeship to Macnabs from another local firm earlier this year.
