When new couples talk about the future it’s often sugar-coated with the illusion of fiction. “We’ll have a big white house with a picket fence, four children, and a dog named Max.” In the early throes of a relationship, it’s easy to agree on everything - baby names, houses, what school to send your child to, even what Netflix series to start next. But our lives change daily, and the horizon is never an exacting science.

In September last year, the Scottish Government announced that reverse migration whereby people moved from the rest of the UK to Scotland, had boosted the population by 137,000 in the past two decades. And with more and more people working from home, and a renewed sense of family and community all driven by the recent pandemic, it’s of no surprise that we’re starting to see more and more people moving from England up past the border into the beautiful country that we call home.

Certain documents require to be “notarised” – and not everyone can do so. Although notaries in Scotland are also qualified solicitors, not every solicitor is also qualified as a notary, meaning they can’t notarise documents for clients. However, at Macnabs we have a number of certified notaries who can assist businesses and individuals who have interests abroad and who can also sign affidavits for court matters here in the UK. Many people might find themselves in a situation whereby they require a notary public to notarise a document for them at short notice in order to further proceed with a business agreement or personal arrangement abroad.
