Moving house in Scotland - current status

19 November 2020 Property & Estate Agency Stewart Baillie

With Scotland in a five-tier system of coronavirus restrictions, England placed under a four-week lockdown, as well as Wales and Northern Ireland in the middle of temporary lockdowns, there is much confusion about what is and is not allowed.

With many people deciding to move north of the border since the start of the pandemic, there are questions from many English buyers in particular on the property market situation here.

In Scotland, house moves are still allowed. The Government has given updated guidance on moving home and makes it clear that home moves will continue to be permitted, provided they can be carried out safely. People can move home in all protection levels, and to and from areas with different levels. However people may wish to consider whether they can postpone a move and related activities in areas subject to level 4 protections (Perth and Kinross are currently in level 3).

As always, we will keep you updated as to any changes to property moves.
