Scotland is not renowned for it’s hot (or even dry!) summer, therefore with the recent mini heatwave we have been experiencing, employers are warned that workers may be planning to pull a sickie, according to new research. Whether employees are booking a last minute holiday or not turning up to work on a Monday morning in order to enjoy an extended sun baked weekend, employers need to consider their strategy for keeping control of employee absences during the hot weather.

Last year, following a ground-breaking ruling, employment tribunal fees were abolished. In addition, fees paid in the past are being refunded following the Supreme Court ruling on 26th July 2017 that the fee system was unlawful.

Despite living in a country that is notorious for bad weather in winter, we are still never quite prepared for the snow! This week has seen school closures, drivers stuck in their cars on the motorway overnight, and of course many employees not turning up to the office. Some perhaps have legit reasons for not being able to get to the office, and others who maybe just fancy a snow day at home.
