Macnabs in a bid to help homeless charity

11 January 2018 News & Announcements Julie Hecht

Macnabs is working in partnership with Churches Action for the Homeless (CATH), a local charity which supports, encourages and promotes the development and delivery of projects to relieve homelessness and poor housing in the Perth & Kinross area, to help them raise much needed funds.

Throughout the month of February, Macnabs and also Next Home Estate Agents will each donate £25 to CATH for each successful property offer the firm is involved in – including successful offers submitted by purchasers buying a new home and successful offers received by sellers.

CATH was established in 1991 and is a local charity supporting those who are homeless or under threat of homelessness. What started as a soup kitchen in various venues is now a Day Centre with drop-in facilities supporting services users with low cost meals, laundry, washing, advice, and literacy and self-development programs. CATH also operate a purpose built 8 flat-let accommodation unit in Perth, an Outreach team who conduct street walks covering the Perth and Kinross area to pick up on those who might otherwise fall through the net and remain at risk, a Floating Support team helping those already in their own accommodation, a Resettlement team for those accessing a tenancy for the first time, a Befriending service, and a Charity shop in Perth’s High Street.

Head of the Property Team Gillian Ralph comments: “At Macnabs, our corporate social responsibility programme is an important part of who we are. We have a strong track record of supporting our local communities and helping causes that are close to people’s hearts. The New Year is an exciting time for many of our clients as they look to buy a new property, yet at the same time we recognise that there are so many people in our local area who are not in such a fortunate position. That is why we have teamed up with CATH, to help them in their effort to support homeless people.”

Brian Cowie, Chief Executive of CATH adds: “Homelessness is a growing issue, especially in this troubled economic climate and we are extremely grateful for the support from Macnabs. CATH are constantly adapting to the needs of the individuals who access our services and are looking to fund certificated courses at our Day Centre that will help move individuals closer to employment while improving their self-esteem, confidence and motivation.”
